Quote of the day:

Michael Saul Dell, the founder of Dell inc.

Michael Saul Dell is the founder of Dell, inc. which was "PC's limited" when started in 1984. He was an University drop out at University of Texas Austin.Michael Dell started this Fortune 500 company with just a thousand dollar in his pocket. Now he is one of the wealthiest people in the world.

From his university dorm room Dell started building and selling personal computers from stock computer parts. The idea wa to sell his products directly to customers without a third person. So he need not pay commissions and also had no stores to maintain which helped him keep the prices lower than other sellers. PC's Limited allowed the customer to customize their computer before it was custom built to their specifications. All computers were sold direct to the customer with the use of order forms, phone orders, and now Internet orders.

A research for Removing Carbon dioxide in air

An overview: Telecast on Discovery channel.

Caustic soda (NaOH) solution is a chemically stable product. It has affinity to Carbon dioxide in air forming Sodium Carbonate (Na2CO3).

2NaOH + CO2 → Na2CO3 + H2O

This principle is used in a research to trap CO2 from the atmosphere. It contains an 80m tall tower with several patterns of perforated steel sheets. A solution of Caustic soda poured from above while. The atmospheric air is blown through this vertical chamber from bottom to top with the help of blowers. The perforated steel sheets is to make the Caustic soda flow evenly providing large area for contact between Carbon dioxide in air and Caustic soda solution. The CO2 in air is caught in the chamber leaving the air free from CO2. The air thus left out is about 80% pure.

For this process to be successful, it should remove CO2 more than it created. (i.e.) CO2 produced for powering the setup.

This is not that all to be done. One more problem is how and where to collect and dump the CO2 caught in the chamber. The CO2 is freezed to solid and dumped by sending it below the sea beds. To do this they planned to follow an olden method followed to dump the nuclear waste under the sea.

Dead people on facebook

Facebook security chief Max Kelly reminded Facebookers on Oct. 26 that they can have their dead friends' profiles memorialized.
"We understand how difficult it can be for people to be reminded of those who are no longer with them, which is why it's important when someone passes away that their friends or family contact Facebook to request that a profile be memorialized" -Kelly
When a Facebook profile is memorialized, its privacy settings are modified so that only confirmed friends can search for or see the profile. Certain sensitive information, such as contact information and status updates, is removed, and login is disabled, but friends can continue to post.
The practice of memorializing, which Facebook actually implemented nearly four years ago.
